THQ has announced preliminary fourth quarter net sales of $160 million to $170 million, which is considerably higher than the company’s previous outlook in the range of $130 million to $150 million.
The publisher attributes the higher net sales on continued strong sales of Saints Row: The Third, which has shipped more than four million units worldwide. The game has also achieved higher than expected digital sales.
UFC Undisputed 3 has also performed slightly higher than expected, although THQ hasn’t offered sales figures.
THQ will finish fiscal 2012 with a cash balance of $76 million, three times higher than the previous expectation.
This is a positive sign for THQ and all eyes will soon turn to its next big hope, Darksiders II, which hits stores June 29. All pre-orders on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC will receive a complimentary upgrade to the Limited Edition.
The Limited Edition includes the standard retail game, plus a code to download the game’s first single-player DLC, Argul’s Tomb, free of charge once it becomes available.
