Marvel Rivals continues to thrill its ever-growing player base with a plethora of free skins, allowing players to customize their favorite heroes without spending a dime. As of yet, the game has released an intriguing roster of new cosmetics for Season 2, including Scarlet Witch’s Chaos Gown (earnable by playing matches beginning April 11), Iron Fist, and Magik skins in the free Battle Pass levels.

Twitch Drops also offer a Namor Will of Galacta skin, and Mantis’ Flora Maiden completes the latest batch, bringing the total number of free skins to six when Season 1.5’s lingering Human Torch Blood Blaze and Invisible Woman Blood Shield reward is taken into account. However, the clock is ticking on some of these prized rewards, especially the ranked skins (unlocked by reaching Gold III), which are due to expire when Season 2 launches. But one mistake could cost you these skins altogether. Here’s why.

Play these many Marvel Rivals competitive matches to unlock free Season 1 ranked skins

Marvel Rivals players can still unlock the two free skins, Invisible Woman Blood Shield and Human Torch Blood Blaze, from Season 1 ranked rewards before Season 2 rolls in on April 11, 2025. While the prerequisite requires you to reach the Gold III rank and upwards to unlock them, there’s one more requirement you need to fulfill to claim these settlement rewards.

The subtext right above the rank icons reads by default, “Complete 10/10 competitive matches to be eligible to claim settlement rewards.” This means you need to play 10 competitive matches above the Gold I rank to claim the free skins. As you keep progressing through those matches, the number before the backslash will increase as seen in the image above, like “5/10”.

Keep playing competitive matches until you see the number on the left go up to 10, and only then you’ll be able to claim these rewards. This info was highlighted by a Reddit user named LegionKarma, who wrote, “I’m casual competitive cause I know I’m not good enough to get to higher ranks and plus I don’t want to sweat while gaming. So I’ve been pushing competitive since I’ve already reached Gold, but I thought I already completed my 10 games, but apparently not.”

While there’s certain confusion among the community about how exactly to complete this requirement, one user suggested, “At least 10 matches in Competitive in season 1.5. If, after any of those matches, your peak seasonal rank was Gold or higher, you’ll get the skin. If it was GM or higher, you’ll also get the badge. You don’t need to play a match in Gold or GM. You just need to reach it, and then you can quit, as long as you have 10 or more comp matches this season.”

Now that you know what not to do, go out there and grind before Marvel Rivals Season 2 downtime goes underway and rank progression is locked.
