Nintendo’s new NX platform is now available to pre-order in Australian EB Games stores, even though the platform has no release date, price or information to base your buying decision on.
“Nintendo have confirmed they’re developing a dedicated gaming platform with the codename NX! They’ve said more info will come next year,” posted the retailer on Facebook.
“The NX is now available for preorder instore.”
Announced out of nowhere yesterday, Nintendo described the NX as a “new hardware system with a brand-new concept”. What that concept is remains to be seen.
“As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename ‘NX’,” said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. “It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project, but we hope to share more information with you next year.”
The new system will make use of a new membership service created together with DeNA – which is also working with Nintendo to create new mobile titles utilising Nintendo’s IP.
