When you think about Stardew Valley, you probably think about farming. That’s expected. After all, it is a farming game. However, when I think about Stardew, I think about mining. Yeah, yeah, yearn for the mines and all that.
For those who love smacking rocks and the like in ConcernedApe’s farming game, a brand-new Stardew Valley mod has been released that creates a little haven just for people like us. Made by modder Azathil, Miner’s Retreat – A Quarry Expansion adds an adorable new location for players to experience.
Stardew Valley Miner’s Quarry
Available on Nexus Mods, the new Stardew mod adds the new allegedly “small” player home to the North East of the cave. The new location has a main floor, a conservatory that acts as a greenhouse and bedroom and a basement that also includes a mine elevator to get straight to work in the mines.
“Miner’s Retreat adds a cozy new player home, nestled in a peaceful, ore spawning cave found within the quarry,” the mod creator explained on Nexus Mods. “The home comes complete with a minecart in the basement, as well as its own mine elevator, making it an ideal location to sleep in if you’re running low on time after a long, hard day in the mines.”
In the main floor of the house, there’s a kitchen and numerous decoration choices. The Conservatory has an animated parrot that be changed and an animated fountain that be used as a water source. Additionally, the bedroom can be fully decorated. While the cute house may sound basic on paper, the mod also comes with its own fishing spots and an ore-spawning cave within the quarry.
In the Ore Cave, the game’s ores are “dynamically unlocked to ensure no early access” with ores like iridium and bone nodes only spawning once they have become available within the game’s natural progression. This isn’t a mod to quickly skip to endgame, but another cosy addition to the already-cosy game.
Additionally, the mod creator explained that “Ghostfish, Stonefish and Cave Jelly can be fished from all waters within the cave”, allowing you to kill two birds with one stone.
It may be a small mod, but some of my favourite Stardew Valley experiences have been due to the cosiness of small additions. While some mod users flood their games with countless mods, it’s the tiny little things that make modding worthwhile for me.
