Square Enix is gearing up to the release of its next game in the Life is Strange saga, Before the Storm with a new trailer just for Gamescom 2017. Focusing on aspects of the story, the trailer introduces new environments and characters, even showing that fateful car crash.

The trailer gives us a quick look at the different emotions Chloe is going through following her dad’s death, and her struggles to accept the new father figure in her life. Sombre rock music plays as Chloe goes through a number of experiences, from getting involved in potentially violent confrontations, to pondering her existence in a number of scenic locations near Arcadia Bay, to building a close relationship with the mysterious Rachel Amber. There’s quite a lot of profanity in this coming-of-age teen angst experience, just to give it that authentic edge.

Before the Storm will be making an appearance at Gamescom 2017, and the game can be played by the general public for the first time on the Gamescom show floor.

The first of three episodes of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is titled ‘Awake’ and will release on August 31 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
