Capcom has announced that it plans to develop a live-action movie based on the 32 million-selling Mega Man franchise.

The news comes as the Blue Bomber recently celebrated his 30th anniversary, with the original Mega Man coming out on the NES back in 1987. Despite some ups and downs since then, the franchise has remained consistently popular with fans, with Capcom launching the all-new Mega Man 11 earlier this week.

According to a press release, MEGA MAN (yes, that's how it's stylised) will be distributed by 20th Century Fox, and will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. Capcom says it wants to appeal to a diverse audience with the flick, so it won't just be targeted at fans of the video games.

To be fair, Capcom has had a lot of success when adapting its games. The Resident Evil movie series has grossed over $1 billion dollars worldwide, and it's also working on a Monster Hunter film.
