Mane6’s cute-as-buttons scrapper Them’s Fightin’ Herds is launching on Steam and Humble Store on February 22. For the record, this is about as close as you’re going to get seeing the cast of My Little Pony mule-kicking each other to death, which in our book is worth a punt.

We say ‘close as’ because this isn’t actually a fully licensed My Little Pony brawler. Rather, the game features art work designed by Lauren Faust, who just so happens to be the creator of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. As such, what you get is a bunch of four-legged folk who closely resemble the design of My Little Pony’s cast.

To be fair, it sounds like Them’s Fightin’ Herds has a lot going for it other than a pretty cool name. The game launches for $14.99 with six characters and comes complete with both single-player and multiplayer distractions, and we’re promised a pretty deep combat system to boot.

Not only that, but the press blurb mentions crossover clobber from franchises such as Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and Skullgirls, with extra characters – each one adding a unique play style to the roster – rolling out as DLC shortly after launch.

At this point words do the game no justice, so have a gander at the Them’s Fightin’ Herds trailer below for more info.Â
