The Witness, the new title from Braid creator Jonathan Blow, will be released on PlayStation 4, Sony and Blow’s indie studio Thekla Inc have announced.
The game sees players explore a mysterious island and solve puzzles, delivering moments of epiphany when your mind goes from confusion to understanding.
Although a puzzle game, players are free to go anywhere in a small open world – you can run across the whole island in 1 minute 10 seconds. The benefit to this is that if you get stuck on a puzzle you can leave it for later and move on to something else.
Despite the apparent small size of the world, Blow promises around 25 hours of unique puzzle gameplay with no filler or repetition.
After three and a half year in development The Witness is now nearing completion, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for news on a release date.
