AMC and GameMill Entertainment have announced The Walking Dead Destinies, a new action adventure game based on the long running zombie apocalypse series.

Unlike most of the previous Walking Dead gaming efforts, TWD Destinies won’t be a unique story set in the same universe, rather it’ll retell the stories from Seasons 1 to 4 of the TV show, but with the unique twist that you’ll be able to make key choices and decisions that’ll change how things play out. While you’ll start off playing as series regular hero Rick Grimes, while playing you can make decisions on who lives and dies, meaning your story – and who you end up as – could look very different from how the same story went in the TV series.

We’re promised a bunch of recognisable characters from the show making their appearance and that you’ll get to play as many of these during the game. They include Rick, Shane, Michonne, Carol, Daryl and plenty of others. Each will have their own unique abilities, and resource management will also be a factor in the game. There’ll be plenty of weapons to get your hands on, of course, but it looks like resource management, and how you acquire these weapons, will be important things to consider during gameplay. You can check out the game’s first trailer below.

Developing duties on The Walking Dead Destinies is being handled by Flux Games, who previously worked on TV tie-in Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues. While the game doesn’t have a release date yet – it’s currently scheduled as just coming ‘soon’ – the game will be on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC whenever it arrives.
