Q-Games has dropped a new trailer for its upcoming revival of The Tomorrow Children, now with the suffix Phoenix Edition.

The trailer comes with a few more details on how this new version will differ from the original 2016 release. Notably, Q-Games say they’ve spent time “reverting the game back to its intended design” thanks to community feedback. For a start, the game will no longer rely on a central server. This major change will ensure the game remains playable indefinitely, and all microtransactions have been removed.

Game director Dylan Cuthbert adds that this community feedback has allowed the team to rebalance the game in new and exciting ways. The team has also focused on getting new players on board, with an in-depth tutorial & brand new ways to play. There’ll be 40 islands to explore, mine resources and unearth treasure, including the contest winners announced last month.

Players will collaborate, build and much more. As Cuthbert himself says “I’ve personally been leading the programming effort to polish even the tiniest little corners, and myself and the team have been really enjoying ourselves. We can’t wait to see you all in the game too, especially those who perhaps didn’t really get a chance to play it properly back in the day. The atmosphere of The Tomorrow Children is truly unique and I hope I can visit all your towns when the Phoenix Edition launches.”

We’ll find out when The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition drops on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later this year. For now, check out the trailer below.
