The Surge 2, a follow-up to 2017’s Dark Souls-inspired action-RPG, is currently in development for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, Focus Home Entertainment has announced.

Currently pencilled in for release next year, The Surge 2 promises to adhere to many of the concepts that players loved about the original (which itself was a spiritual successor to Lords of the Fallen), chiefly the ‘deep character progression’ and dynamic limb targeting shenanigans.

However, Deck13’s promising to expand further on its predecessor, with the sequel taking advantage of a spruced up game engine that allows for a much more dynamic level design. Furthermore, the combat system has also been upgraded, with the limb targeting system now offering a more tactical and brutal edge than its previous incarnation.

Chuck in a fresh load of weapons, abilities, implants, and drones, and you have heaps more at your disposal to take on the game’s many bosses and challenges. New info for The Surge 2 will drop later this week, so keep your eyes peeled.Â
