Nintendo has announced that the SNES Classic Edition has sold 5.28 million units since its launch in September last year.

The pint-sized retro goodie box comes with two controllers and over 20 games under the hood, including Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Street Fighter II Turbo, Star Fox 2, and more. Crucially, Ninty handled the distribution and production far better than the NES Mini, so you could actually walk into most stores and pick one up without much trouble.

Last we heard the micro console had flogged around four million units as of December 31, 2017, so it's impressive to see Nintendo has added another one million+ to that total since. On a semi-related note, the company has said that it will restock the NES Mini this summer, although hasn't confirmed any further details yet.

So anyway, nostalgia clearly sells. Who would have thought it? At this point however we have to wonder just how far the Big N will take this mini console malarkey, as it's clearly working for them. Fingers crossed for Nintendo 64 Mini, eh?
