Technicolor Animation Productions' Sly Cooper TV series (they're the same folk who brought us the Sonic Boom TV show, in case you wondered) will launch next year with 52 episodes planned for its first season.

Details come courtesy of PGS Entertainment (via Resetera), confirming the first 26 episodes will begin airing in October 2019, each one lasting around 11 minutes.

What's more, episodes 27 through 52 will roll out in July 2020, bringing the first season to a close. Presumably, this means the planned Sly Cooper movie has now been canned.

'Sly Cooper follows the adventures of an irresistibly charismatic raccoon, a modern-day Robin Hood, who restores justice to his city one theft at a time,' says the listing. 'Mixing humor, action, and a remarkable cast of characters, Sly Cooper promises to be an unforgettable series.'

Sly Cooper is one of Sony's many platforming heroes alongside the likes of Ratchet & Clank and Jak and Daxter, although we haven't seen a new game since the PlayStation 3 title Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time back in 2013.

Sucker Punch Productions, the studio who would later go on to make inFAMOUS, were the original developers behind the Sly Cooper franchise before handing over the reins to Sanzaru Games.

Aside from the slippery raccoon himself, the Sly Cooper TV series will also star Murray and Bentley, which should no doubt please fans of the games.
