The first trailer for video game movie Rampage dropped last night, giving us our first look at the film based on the Midway-created 80’s arcade smash-em-up series starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

The story sees Dwayne’s Davis Okoye, a primatologist who cares for and raises an albino gorilla, only for that gorilla to end up stumbling upon a discarded experiment that mutates him into an enormous size, causing him to grow to massive proportions and start going on one of those rampages through the city that the games were famous for.

Warner Bros, who is distributing the movie, actually own the rights to the series after purchasing Midway back in 2009 for $33 million. Despite the fact the last Rampage game was Rampage: Total Destruction on the Wii back in 2006, giant monster/robot movies appear to be quite in vogue at the moment, so it’ll be interesting to see how this one does.

If nothing else, hopefully we’ll get to see Colm do another wonderful For Your Amusement on it after it releases in cinemas April 20 2018.
