A leaker has claimed that the PlayStation 5’s retail price will rival that of its predecessor and has revealed its launch date (via TechRadar).

The PlayStation 4 and its Pro edition were sent out into the wild with a price tag of $399. If the souped-up PlayStation 5 sets customers back only $100 more, that’s quite impressive. We don’t know for sure, but the supposed release date does tally with what has been previously announced about the next-generation PlayStation. In addition, PSErebus also leaked the correct release date for The Last Of Us: Part II, so they really could have an ear to the ground.

Confirmed PlayStation 5 titles include Dying Light 2, Watch Dogs Legion, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Bluepoint Games, developer of the Shadow of the Colossus remake, is hard at work on an unannounced game for the new console. Studio president Marco Thrush enthused about the PlayStation 5 special sauce. "The SSD has me really excited," he said. "You don't need to do gameplay hacks anymore to artificially slow players down—lock them behind doors, anything like that. Back in the cartridge days, games used to load instantly; we're kind of going back to what consoles used to be."
