Brendan Greene, otherwise known as the actual PlayerUnknown, Tweeted yesterday that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds now has the record for the most peak players of any non-Valve game on Steam. Because of course it does.

‘Peak players’ means the most people playing the game on steam at once, which for PUBG is just under half a million. This puts it in third place, behind Dota 2 and CS:GO, and just above Fallout 4. PUBG’s rise has been meteoric, and shows little sign of slowing down, although it’ll probably take a while to top Dota 2’s peak player count of over a million.

The best part, of course, is that technically PUBG isn’t even out yet: it’s still in Steam’s early access programme, with a full release due later this year (with an Xbox release following by the end of 2017, and PS4 some time after that.
