Sony Pictures has staple-gunned a September 4, 2020 release date to Paul W.S. Anderson's Monster Hunter movie (via Deadline).

If you've not been keeping up with Anderson's latest adaptation of a much-loved video game series, the Monster Hunter flick will star Milla Jovovich (obviously) alongside Tony Jaa, Diego Boneta, Ron Perlman, and Meagan Good. There's soldiers, big guns, and monsters.

Here's the synopsis:

'Behind our world, there is another – a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, terrifying attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man (Tony Jaa) who has found a way to fight back.'

Anderson is probably best known among gamers for bringing Capcom's Resident Evil series to the big screen, launching a film franchise that went on to gross over one billion. It's just a pity that they were, well, a bit naff.

Quite how Monster Hunter will turn out is anyone's guess, but I'd hardly call myself optimistic. In the meantime, make sure you give Monster Hunter World a go, as it's brilliant.
