It’s official, we’re getting a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 – renamed Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater. Announced at the PlayStation Showcase, only a brief screen was shown.

It was, however, followed by the news that the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection of three games, including MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 will also be heading to the PlayStation 5 in Autumn 2023. You can check out the trailer for yourself below, and get ready to sing along with the theme. What a thrill…

There’s not much known about the remake so far, but the project was rumoured to be announced soon earlier this week which also followed years of speculation that a remake was in the works. Konami would later confirm the other side to the rumour, that this remake will indeed also release on the Xbox Series X|S and PC as well as PlayStation 5.

A message from the game’s development team gives us some more info on the project. “We are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved instalments of the Metal Gear series, revealing the origin story of Snake, as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. We are working hard for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.”

“Simultaneously,” they add, “We will deliver the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection series, the most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection allows fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.”

There’ll be more on both games soon, with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection currently pencilled in for an Autumn 2023 release.
