The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D sold 515,000 copies during its first month on sale in the US, Nintendo has revealed. The figure accounts for both physical copies sold at retail and digital downloads.
The game’s impressive debut sent it soaring to the top of the monthly charts where it outsold major new releases Evolve and The Order: 1886.
Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate also performed well, shifting 290,000 units across physical and digital channels, and becoming the US’s fastest-selling Monster Hunter title in history.
Sales were likely helped by the release of the New Nintendo 3DS XL, which became the best-selling piece of hardware during February. 395,000 3DS consoles were sold in the US throughout the month, Nintendo said, with 2015 sales already up by over 90 per cent compared to this time last year.
Total sales figures for Majora’s Mask 3D and the New Nintendo 3DS have yet to be revealed.
A new Zelda title is due for release on Wii U later this year.
