Square Enix has today announced that The Legend of Kage 2 for Nintendo DS, a sequel to Taito’s 1984 arcade ninja action title, is to be released in Europe and other PAL territories in November.

In The Legend of Kage 2 players will take control of Kage the Ninja or Chihiro the Kunoichi – each featuring a personal story – and have 17 different Ninjutsu techniques to master. Players will have to climb vertical cliffs, hang from ceilings and block enemy attacks with their ninja sword if they are to have any chance of survival.

The game introduces new Ninjutsu skills such as Bunshin no Jutsu, a Shadow Replication Technique that creates deadly duplicates of yourself. Further mastery of Ninjutsu will enable players to launch powerful flame attacks and summon monsters.

“Retro arcade fans that own a Nintendo DS will find lots to enjoy with The Legend of Kage 2. The action is very unique for the console, so there’s never been a better time to revisit this classic arcade title,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix. “I hope everyone enjoys the excitement and thrills of The Legend of Kage 2.”

Expect Square Enix to announce a final release date closer to the game’s November launch.
