Voice actor Troy Baker has said that he would “gladly” reprise his role as Joel should Naughty Dog ask him to return for The Last of Us 2, but confirmed that “there’s nothing on the horizon right now” when it comes to developing a sequel.

“There’s nothing on the horizon right now,” Baker told VideoGamer.com earlier today when asked whether a sequel was in the works. “It’s to the credit of Neil and Bruce and everyone at Naughty Dog for creating a story and a world that is so rich and immersive that people want more of the story. That’s a really hard thing to accomplish.”

“To even make a game is a miracle. To have a game that can grow into something else, and not just in a franchise sense – they want to know more about the characters; they want to know more about the world; they have questions. That’s a truly remarkable thing.

“If we [Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson] are fortunate for them to ask us back, I gladly would.”

Naughty Dog is currently known to be working on a major unannounced project in addition to The Last of Us Remastered and next year’s Uncharted 4. But if it isn’t The Last of Us 2, what could it be…?

The Last of Us Remastered launches exclusively on PS4 on August 1.
