The John Lewis Christmas 2015 ad has launched. Man on the Moon is no doubt making people up and down the country shed a tear.

The ad tells the story of a young girl called Lily. Looking at the moon through the family telescope one night, she’s amazed at what she finds… a man on the moon. Lily watches as he goes about his chores, all alone up there. She becomes determined to get something to the moon, to send him a message and show him that someone down here is thinking of him.

Thankfully the ad is being supported by a range of merchandise and a free app for iOS and Android. The app “features an action packed arcade style game and a magical 3D Moon experience,” claims the description.

The blurb continues: “Ever tried to fly a paper airplane to the Moon? What about an apple or a scooter? Well now’s your chance. As you travel up to the Moon, you’ll face everything from space dogs to worm holes and alien ships in your bid to reach the Moon.

“Bring the Moon to life before your eyes by pointing your device at the Moon, or at one of our special posters to unlock exciting daily facts in the countdown to Christmas Day.”
