TV channel Dave has announced its show Dara O’Briain’s Go 8 Bit, returning for its second series on May 15, is getting a spin-off called Go 8 Bit DLC.
The second show will be hosted by Go 8 Bit’s games expert Ellie Gibson, and will air immediately after the regular episode of Go 8 Bit. It’s format will be a kind of review show, with debates and conversations on the history of gaming.
Gibson said, ‘I am very excited to be hosting Go 8 Bit DLC. I’m hoping it will offer an extended and enhanced user experience, so it’s just like regular DLC, except we’re not asking anyone to pay £7.99 for some new hats.’
Like the original show, Go 8 Bit DLC will have celebrity guests. So far we know these will include people like Rhianna Pratchett, who has written for games including the Tomb Raider reboot, and James and Oliver Phelps who played the Weasley Twins in the Harry Potter movies. I’ll be honest, that last one came at me out of left field, but I’m on board with it.
Dara O’Briain’s Go 8 Bit is based on the long running live show by comedians Steve McNeil and Sam Pamphilon, who now serve as team captains on the TV show. They’ll also be joining Gibson for Go 8 Bit DLC.
The new series of Go 8 Bit and Go 8 Bit DLC will begin airing on Dave on May 15 2017. Thank god this is a website where I don’t have to explain to the audience what ‘DLC’ is, or why Ellie’s comment about buying hats is in fact a joke.
