Lush-looking survival title The Forest will finally be getting a full release on April 30, developer Endlight Games has announced.

It’s been a long time coming too; The Forest has been hunkering down in the Early Access program for around four years, and currently stands version 0.73. It’s also meant to be hitting PlayStation 4 in 2018 too, although the game’s developer has been worryingly quiet about this version.

As previously reported, The Forest’s full release will result in a small price hike, with the game jumping from $14.99 to $19.99. There’s also plans for virtual reality support down the road, although further details have yet to be confirmed at this point.

The Forest is probably something that should be on your radar, and has been on mine for some time. Yes, it’s another survival-heavy title, although the concept sounds pretty neat. You’re stuck on a forested peninsula after surviving a plane crash, only to find the area inhabited by cannibalistic nutters, whose behaviour changes depending on the time of day.

Intriguingly, there are no missions as such; you just need to stay alive at all costs, which generally involves crafting weapons, shelter, and keeping the various creatures on the island at bay. Eventually you’ll penetrate deeper into the island, encountering new areas and more powerful enemies while unearthing some pretty disturbing stuff along the way.Â
