Open-world horror romp The Forest is coming to PlayStation 4 on November 6, developer Endnight Games has announced on the PlayStation Blog.

The Forest has been knocking around for some time now, having originally launched for PC via Steam Early Access back in May 2014. The game revolves around a father searching for his lost son after crash landing on a moody, forested peninsula.

Survival is the name of the game here, and you're given plenty of freedom in regards to how you do it. While supplies such as food and water are essential, there's also plenty of room for creativity, with players able to erect massive fortifications to help fend off the island's cannibalistic-like inhabitants.

While you can avoid enemies by using stealth, you'll obviously have to get stuck into some close combat eventually, so cobbling together makeshift weapons becomes paramount to your survival.

It also becomes abundantly clear that the enemies that stalk you aren't necessarily human; the cave system in The Forest will eventually start coughing up more disturbing creatures as time moves on.

The Forest will also accommodate four-player cooperative play, allowing a group of dads to band together and survive against the onslaught of creepy critters and find your missing son.
