Bethesda has released a new gameplay trailer for The Evil Within 2, featuring some lovingly crafted (if disturbingly awful) baddies. Years before the events of the first Evil Within, Lily, the daughter of Sebastian Castellanos, died in a house fire. Or at least that’s what he thought happened. The sequel follows Sebastian as he goes to the city of Union to find out the truth about Lily. Obviously nothing could go wrong at all.

Taking place three years after the events of the first game, The Evil Within 2 is a direct sequel to the original. Sebastian Castellanos, is back and even more moody than before. Understandably of course. Plagued by memories of the daughter he couldn’t save and a mystery he didn’t solve, he begins to lose his faith and goes into a bit of a depression. Everything is a bit s**t until the appearance of an old friend-turned-traitor makes him an offer he cannot refuse: return to the nightmare and save your daughter. It’s pretty clear what Seb is going to do.

The Survive trailer seems to have much more of a focus on gunplay than the original, but Bethesda said that you can choose to approach the game’s myriad of problems however you like, saying ‘Provided you can scrounge up the resources, you can play the game however you see fit’. The Evil Within 2 comes out on Friday the 13th, which is definitely not a coincidence.

The Evil Within 2 will be released on October 13, for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
