The Division, which stood out as one of the most exciting games for Xbox One and PS4 during last year’s E3, may now miss its planned 2014 release date, a source from developer Ubisoft Massive has told Gamereactor.

It seems whoever schedules Ubisoft’s release dates and the team at Massive aren’t on the same page.

“The game engine works well, it’s not done but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however,” the source claims.

“The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It’s a large project, and we have very far to go.”

Ubisoft chose not to comment on rumours of a delay when questioned by VideoGamer.com.

Ubisoft’s next-gen scheduling hasn’t gone all that smoothly thus far, with both Watch Dogs and The Crew also suffering considerable delays. Neither title has a firm launch date at this time.
