Resistance: Fall of Man has once again come under attack from The Church of England, this time following the game’s inclusion in the BAFTAs. The Dean of Manchester Cathedral, the Very Rev Rogers Govender, has asked BAFTA to remove the controversial game from the list of nominations for the upcoming award ceremony.
“There was disgust at the virtual desecration of Manchester Cathedral,” he told The Guardian. “I plead with BAFTA to send a signal to the industry and to Sony and withdraw Resistance: Fall of Man from the nominations.“
Resistance hit the headlines back in June after outrage that Manchester Cathedral was depicted in the game as a backdrop to gun violence.
A Church spokesperson told The Guardian: “The game has been nominated because of how well it’s done in the charts. This nomination is like rubbing salt in the wounds.“
