The Game Awards gave us our first look at the promised single player game set in the world of multiplayer asymmetric horror game, Dead by Daylight.

It’s named The Casting of Frank Stone, and is being developed as a partnership between DbD devs Behaviour Interactive and The Dark Pictures studio Supermassive Games. The first trailer seems to imply it’ll be a mixture of the two – with a similar graphical style to The Quarry and Until Dawn. Whether it’ll play similarly wasn’t made clear in the game’s first trailer though.

According to the description, you’ll play as a group of young friends exploring the mystery of Cedar Hills, a town terrorised by the titular Frank Stone and his violent past. The four characters will be all new, so not based on any existing Dead by Daylight characters – sorry to those hoping to see Nicholas Cage pop up. But we’re told “Every decision you make shapes the story and impacts the fate of the characters within it. Brimming with emotional gut-punches and high-stakes horror, discover how a simple decision can become a truly heart-wrenching dilemma.”

While a specific release date wasn’t given just yet, The Casting of Frank Stone is expected to release at some point in 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. We’ll be hearing more about it in the coming months. Meanwhile check out our Dead by Daylight beginners guide – everything you need to know to start playing DBD.
