The biggest Baldur’s Gate 3 modders want you as massive custom campaign looks for new help

Baldur’s Gate 3 mod Path to Menzoberranzan is one of the most ambitious mods ever for Larian’s RPG. While smaller custom campaigns adapt areas from World of Warcraft or revive classic bosses, this campaign aims to be a massive new story for fans to experience.

Bringing players back to Baldur’s Gate 2’s City of Gold, aka Athkatla, the mod aims to be a full campagin experience with six-to-eight companions, custom animations, bosses… the whole lot. However, to make this massive fan project, the team behind the project is looking for new fans to help out.

Join Baldur’s Gate 3 Path to Menzoberranzan

Speaking to VideoGamer, modder Gregory ‘Lotrich’ Barak, explained that the scale of the Baldur’s Gate 3 mod means that the team is looking for additional modders to help bring it to reality. With the sheer scale of the BG3 modding community, the team is actively looking for new hands to help out.

Specifically, the team is looking for modders to help on the art side of things. With programming and writing pretty much covered, the team is hoping to create more unique locales and interactions with more bespoke assets.

On the 2D side, the Baldur’s Gate 3 modders are looking for Environment Concept Artists who specialise in “photobashed concept art” and Graphic Designers “who can create new UI elements and icons for new items, spells, et cetera”.

As a 3D game, the team is looking for a load of new help. For example, the team wants environmental artists that will be “a crucial medium between the visual design team and the mapping team”, technical artists to optimise assets, animators and cinematic artists to help construct new cutscenes and hair and grooming artists for creating hairstyles.

BG3 modding is already intense

Just like the Skyrim and Fallout communities, the latter of which spent years creating the phenomenal Fallout London, the Baldur’s Gate 3 modding scene is rapidly exploding. Less than a year after release, a fan-made expansion is essentially in the works already.

With all of this happening just a year since the game’s full release, just imagine the future. As players adapt new D&D rulesets or create brand-new races to play as, the possibilities are endless for the future of Larian’s game.

Nevertheless, it does appear that Baldur’s Gate 4 will be a reality sooner than expected. As Larian moves onto its next project, Hasbro already has plans for the future of the franchise.
