Nintendo has announced that Norse-flavoured adventure franchise The Banner Saga is coming to the Switch this year.
The news was confirmed during the company’s recent Nindies Spring Showcase, with Stoic Games’ critically acclaimed Viking-’em-up rolling out on the Big N’s hybrid box ‘soon’ with Parts 1 & 2. The third instalment will arrive in the summer alongside the previously announced PC version, and is set to close out the series.
The Banner Saga combines interactive storytelling with turn-based combat, as players build up a party of hardened, axe-wielding combatants while progressing through a series of battle-heavy scenarios inspired by the likes of Final Fantasy and Shining Force.
The series originally launched on PC and mobile devices back in 2014, and eventually made the transition to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2016. We were quite impressed with the first Banner Saga despite its flaws, so we’re hoping the concluding chapter delivers the goods.
The Banner Saga has yet to attract a release date for Switch but we’ll keep you posted.
