Reef Entertainment has announced Terminators: The Video Game, an “authentic and exciting” Terminator title based on the hit 1980s movie franchise.

Though details on the game have yet to be revealed, Reef confirmed that it had acquired the “exclusive console video game rights” for The Terminator and the “console and PC video game rights” for sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Expect the game to be based on the two.

“Here at Reef we are huge fans of 1984 & 1991 Sci-Fi action master-pieces,” said a Reef spokesperson.

“It’s an incredible opportunity and an equally huge responsibility to create a game that does great justice to the motion-pictures. We are studying all aspects and influences of the Terminator universe defined in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. We have started on our journey and are drawing on all the diverse materials available to produce a high quality, authentic and exciting Terminator video game.”

Terminators: The Video Game is the second blockbuster license to be acquired by Reef. Rambo: The Video Game, an upcoming on-rails first-person shooter, is due to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this winter.

Platforms and a release date for Terminators: The Video Game have yet to be announced.
