Developed by FromSoftware and K2 studios (the developers of Tenchu: Fatal Shadows), the game is said to contain all the same complex 3D environments that the series is known for, enhanced stealth manoeuvres, and all-new kill moves that will apparently bring more realism to the game.

Tenchu’s gameplay offers all the strategy of a stealth game but none of the frustration,” commented Matt Woodley, Creative Director of SEGA. “This next release represents SEGA’s commitment to providing compelling new content to the handheld market.

Time of Assassins features several game modes. In Scenario mode all the classic characters from the Tenchu series return, including Rikimaru, Ayame, Rin, and Tesshu, each with a different story and differing levels to play through. A Free Mission mode is also included, featuring 50 independent missions.

The game will also include local wireless multiplayer, for cooperative and head-to-head games. In addition, a level editor will also be included, allowing players to create and share their own stages.

Tenchu fans won’t have to hide in the shadows for too long, as the game is scheduled for release on June 23, only on PSP.
