Cultist Simulator creator Alexis Kennedy has revealed that Telltale Games had brought him in to work on a new zombie-related project featuring procedurally-generated story content.

According to Kennedy, the new game was not based on The Walking Dead and was in production for mobile devices, though there was a possibility it would come to other formats down the line.

Obviously, the mysterious project never came to light and was ultimately shelved back in March of this year, with all but one of the development team laid off.

'The project was going to have more gameplay, and wouldn’t require a narrative designer and a writer to fine-tune every single scene,' Kennedy told VG247, adding the game 'was something that didn’t require hand-tuned content, but allowed room for stuff that emerged naturally from procedural generation.'

Telltale Games announced on Friday that it had begun a 'majority studio closure' and had laid off all but 25 employees, leaving the future of games like The Walking Dead: The Final Season in doubt.

The studio recently issued an update on The Walking Dead, revealing it is hoping to see the project finished. Meanwhile, Netflix has confirmed it still plans to produce the Stranger Things video game despite Telltale winding down.
