Bandai Namco may not be saying much about the sales of Tekken 7, but the series producer, Katsuhiro Harada, has no such qualms with sharing how well the game’s doing. In response to a question from a Twitter user, Harada revealed that the game has sold over 2 million copies since its release in June. That’s more than its competitor Street Fighter V has managed in over a year, and it’s still a way off from the 2 million mark.

When it announced its last earnings report, Bandai Namco commented on the sales of Tekken 7, which were around 1.66 million at the time, and said that it’s on target to reach the forecasted target of 2.1 million by the end of the 2017 fiscal year. Good news for Tekken 7; it’s almost there with months to spare.

This news indicates a pretty strong return to form for the long-running fighting series.Tekken 6 didn’t perform as strongly and only managed to sell 1.8 million copies after being on sale for seven months. So, this is definitely a turn-up for the books and shows that there’s still fight in the old dog yet.

Tekken 7 is out now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
