Long-standing PlayStation exclusive beat-em-up series Tekken will finally be making an appearance on a Microsoft console after the US company announced that Tekken 6 will launch simultaneously on Xbox 360 as well as PS3.

The shock announcement was made during Microsoft’s impressive Tokyo Game Show press conference. Xbox LIVE boss John Schappert took to the stage to make the announcement, revealing the game would be out in autumn 2009.

The announcement follows Microsoft’s E3 confirmation that another upcoming game from a previously PlayStation exclusive series, Final Fantasy XIII, would also be coming out on Xbox 360.

The last Tekken game, Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, brought online play to the series, and we really rather liked it. Here’s hoping Tekken 6, which is already out in London arcades, is even better when it hits home consoles next year.
