Speaking with IGN, Itagaki was asked about Ninja Gaiden 2. He wasn’t giving too much away, but did leave readers with some teasing info. Firstly, he mentioned Ninja Gaiden 2 specifically when discussing the multi-threaded capabilities of the Xbox 360.

So if you’re working on a game like Ninja Gaiden 2, where it’s really important that enemies are smart and challenging, then we might use up to two threads on AI,” said Itagaki.

He also added that Team Ninja has “a number of games for the Xbox platform in mind,” later stating: “I won’t upset anybody by denying your expectations. I like to see people’s expectations fulfilled.

In the interview Itagaki also offered some views on the PlayStation 3, noting that the team is “messing around with it right now,” and that he thinks “it’s a good machine.” He also didn’t rule out developing games for the PS3, although did say that it would only happen “if there is a demand for it.

However, despite the talk of PlayStation 3, it’s the Xbox 360 which he currently loves the most: “There are a lot of fans of the Xbox that support us and are with us because of that, so I just want everyone to know that we are going to continue bringing out the newest releases on the Xbox platform before they’re on other systems.

Team Ninja’s next Xbox 360 release will be Dead or Alive Extreme 2, which is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.
