Valve’s shooter Team Fortress 2 is getting an official update, and it’s only been 10 years since it was released. In celebration ‘of a decade of dustbowls and gravel pits’, Valve has decided to show that it’s not forgotten its classic shooter by announcing a four day event called Jungle Inferno, and it begins today. This event features a mixture of maps and cosmetic content created by Valve and the game’s community. The developer even cobbled together a fantastic tropics-infused animated trailer.

The first map is a new in-house created affair called Mercenary Park, which is a combination of Jurassic Park, Yeti bashing, and Aussie-inspired humour. Five new community maps have also been created for each of the game’s different modes.

There are also a couple of new taunts that you can use to antagonise your foes online, called Yeti Punch and Yeti Smash. Australia’s favourite son (no, not Mel Gibson) even makes his return with a suitably characteristic turn in the accompanying animated trailer.

There’ll be more maps and gear revealed over the next few days, and this is as good as reason as any to go back to the much-loved team-based shooter.
