Publisher Hatinh Interactive and developer Monochrome Paris have announced that puzzle platformer Tandem: A Tale of Shadows will launch on October 21.

The game puts you in control of two protagonists simultaneously: young child detective Emma and her teddy bear sidekick Fenton. As Emma, you’ll view proceedings from a top down view, lighting the way with your lantern. Fenton meanwhile sees the levels as a side-scroller shrouded in darkness. By casting shadows using the light as Emma, Fenton can walk on and interact with them as solid objects. You’ll have to utilise the skillsets of both combined to solve puzzles, tackle enemies and navigate the levels.

Developer Monochrome has spoken to the PlayStation Blog about their inspirations for the game, which they’ve previously said to include the works of author Jules Verne and filmmaker Tim Burton. “We were fascinated by the late 19th century, which was one of the most creative and innovative periods in history. We thought the Victorian period was appropriate for our game, but we didn’t want to include steampunk elements.”

Tandem: A Tale of Shadows will launch on October 21 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One,  Nintendo Switch and PC. In case you missed it the first time, you can check out the story reveal trailer below.
