Nintendo Europe and Nintendo Netherlands may have revealed the launch date for the 4.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. and with it the release of the next DLC fighter, which was announced at E3 2019, Dragon Quest’s Hero.
In a series of now deleted tweets from both European accounts, it seems that the update is due for July 31. Nintendo did announce, as reported by Dualshockers, that tomorrow morning it will hold a video presentation for Hero that will tell players when the new contender touches down in game. Their continental counterparts may have jumped the gun slightly here.

If the 4.0.0 update is scheduled for Wednesday, it would be rational to assume that Hero will accompany the patch, because the first DLC character, Persona 5’s Joker, was added with 3.0.0. At the moment, Nintendo’s retconning says that it will arrive within the coming week, but we will find out for sure in the video presentation tomorrow.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now on Nintendo Switch.
