Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed to Famitsu magazine (via Siliconera) that the epic crossover fighting game has gone gold.

This basically means that development is complete and the game is now at the manufacturing process, so we shouldn't expect any delays between now and its planned release in early December.

Sakurai-san also touched briefly on the decision to eschew trophies from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, something which he says 'was decided early on' and that they 'required a lot more work than what people might think.'

Elsewhere, he clarified that Piranha Plant will be available 'a month or two after release,' while on the topic of matchmaking, the 'game is completely synchronized. Distance (between players) is a top deciding factor.'

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is due out exclusively for Nintendo Switch on December 7. It'll feature a massive roster of characters, but Waluigi isn't one of them. Ronald McDonald won't be appearing either, apparently.
