An update by series creator Masahiro Sakurai over on the official Super Smash Bros. Brawl website has revealed an all-new single-player game mode.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The Subspace Emissary is a complete side-scrolling action game that will offer extra value to what is primarily a multiplayer experience.

People have been kind enough to praise its multiplayer, but we’ve never been able to create a fully fleshed out single-player game,” said Sakurai. “This time, though, we’ve managed to create a complete side-scrolling action game. It’s storyline isn’t overwrought – it’s hastened along by a bunch of quick movies.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is scheduled for release in the US on December 3, with a European date set for sometime early in 2008.
