Nintendo today announced that the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Nintendo Wii has been delayed in Japan and is now set for release on January 24.

The online-enabled fighter is on track to arrive in US stores on December 3, but European gamers are in the same boat as Japan and must wait until 2008 – no firm date has been confirmed.

Earlier today it was confirmed that SEGA mascot Sonic the Hedgehog will be a playable character in the game.
