The producer on Super Mario Odyssey has said there’s a possibility the critically acclaimed adventure game may receive traditional downloadable content at some point in the future.

Speaking with the latest issue of Game Informer (via GamingBolt), Yoshiaki Koizumi said that the team’s goal was to provide a bevy of content for players to tuck into from day one, but added regular DLC has not been ruled out. We’ve already seen some extra content released just last week in the shape of Luigi’s Balloon World, but it seems there could be more on the cards.

‘There’s a lot of volume in Super Mario Odyssey,’ said Yoshiaki-san. ‘That was a big focus in development: give the player loads to do. We pushed ourselves to create as much as we could. I can’t announce anything specifically today, but of course, if there was a really cool idea for us to do, then we would certainly be thinking about DLC.’

Super Mario Odyssey is currently the best-selling Switch game with over nine million copies moved worldwide. Yoshiaki previously revealed that the game was always destined for the Big N’s hybrid console, and was never considered for Wii U (RIP).
