Codemasters Online Gaming and Turbine have today announced that beginning on June 20 and running through to July 10, players of Lord of the Rings Online will be able to participate in the first annual Summer Solstice Festival.

The main themes of the festival are planting, dancing, drinking, games and fireworks, so players will find a host of new quests and activities specially created for the celebration.

Some of the new content will include new dancing quests, with new race-specific dance emotes as a reward; firework collection from each of the four vendors in the festival; three special scavenger hunts offering rewards including special recipes, seeds and pipeweed; and Hobnanigans, inviting players to join in madcap chicken-chasing games.

The Summer Solstice Festival is the first of many planned seasonal celebrations in Middle-earth.
