Hudson Soft’s first Nintendo 3DS title will be Sudoku: The Puzzle Game Collection, Konami has announced.

Coming to the new handheld in May, Sudoku: The Puzzle Collection will offer a choice of four puzzle game styles. Regular Sudoku is joined by versions of Hashi (Bridges), Shikaku (Boxes) and Akari (Museum).

The collection contains a total of 600 tests, ranging from basic introductory stages through to Hard challenges that will test the most intelligent of players.

The game will utilise Nintendo’s ‘Play Coins’ system, earning players points as they carry their Nintendo 3DS with them. These coins can be exchanged within the game for hints on solving puzzles.

The puzzles will be enhanced with 3D imagery: Shikaku shows off formed boxes with specially-created visuals, while Hashi’s linking bridges are also brought to life.

Of all the possible game types we expected to see given the 3D treatment, Sudoku isn’t one of them. This sounds like a ‘get in early to cash-in on new buyers’ project, but perhaps that an overly cynical stance.
