Steel Battalion will be remembered for its immense and very impressive controller required to play the game. The controller was a very limited edition and was highly sought after by collectors and Mech fanatics, with the original game and controller package setting owners back £129.99. It must come as a bit of a disappointment then that Capcom has decided to discontinue online campaign mode support for the game’s online only sequel, Steel Battalion: Line of Contact.

As of Friday September 30th, 10.00 am – 12.00 pm PST, Capcom will be ending the online services for Campaign Mode of Steel Battalion,” read a statement from Capcom.”

We appreciate your continued support of our product, and sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this may cause. Please enjoy Campaign Mode for the short time it is still available.”

Steel Battalioners will, however, be able to continue to play the Free Mission mode and use System Link. For the time being Campaign Mode is still online, so get playing as it goes offline on September 30th.
