Steam Deck users have had some great verified games this year including Split Fiction and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the imminent Last of Us Part 2 is verified, too. Another great game this year that isn’t verified, but is playable on Valve’s handheld platform, is Avowed. If you’ve wanted to play Obsidian’s newest RPG on the go, the good news is that a new Steam Deck OS update delivers fixes and more.

Steam Deck OS update 3.6.24 delivers fixes

Below are the Steam OS 3.6.24 changelog patch notes as per SteamDeckHQ:

  • Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor could stay hidden while being moved
  • Fixed rendering issues with Avowed
  • Fixed pairing DualShock 3 controllers
  • Addressed a performance regression with No Rest for the Wicked

You will be able to manually download the new update via System tab in your Steam Deck settings.

Again, Avowed isn’t officially verified for Valve’s handheld platform, but this update should fix issues involving rendering. On ProtonDB, Avowed has a gold rating, meanwhile, on the game’s Steam page, it has the following pros and cons listed for SD:

  • Pro – This game’s default graphics configuration works well on Steam Deck
  • Pro – In-game interface text is legible on SD
  • Pro – This games shows SD controller icons
  • Pro – All functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration
  • Con – Entering some text requires manually invoking the on-screen keyboard

Avowed costs £59.99, but can be played for free if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription. You can stream Game Pass games to Steam Deck thanks to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Away from Avowed, the other game improved through the new Steam OS update is No Rest for The Wicked. This is an early access title that costs £34.99 and is officially verified for SD.

In other SD news, make sure to get some free games before they expire very soon.
