There are some great freebies for Steam Deck users. There’s the new batch of April 2025 freebies for Amazon Prime Gaming subscribers, meanwhile, the free-to-play section now includes a prequel to a beloved niche property with a cult following. However, right now, Steam Deck users only have a few hours remaining to claim an amazing AAA game for free that is the perfect blend between survival horror and action.
Steam Deck users must quickly claim AAA game for free
Metro 2033 Redux is currently available to claim for free on Steam Deck and PC. But, to get the game for free, you must claim it before 8AM PT/11AM ET/4PM BST on April 16th.
Per the Steam page, the game is officially verified for Steam Deck. It is also given the big thumbs up over on ProtonDB.
The Metro series is fantastic! Set in a hazardous post-apocalyptic environment, the series is a first-person shooter where you need to survive against other humans, but, most terrifying of all, you need to survive against an assortment of beasts and monsters.
Resources are very limited, and the series is a perfect blend between action and horror. The storytelling is also top notch, as to be expected with the series based on books by Dmitry Glukhovsky.
While Metro 2033 Redux is free right now, the same cannot be said about its sequels. However, the series is on a massive sale right now with Metro Last Light Redux currently only £2.66, and it is Steam Deck verified.
There’s also the most recent installment, Metro Exodus, on sale for £6.62, but it is rated “playable” for Steam Deck rather than officially verified.
We definitely recommend claiming Metro 2033 for free and purchasing Last Light for the measly price of £2.66. If you enjoy them, then Exodus for £6.62 is a fantastic offer. While Metro 2033 Redux is only free until April 16th, the sales for Last Light and Exodus are staying until April 21st.
