Valve has announced that not only will Mac gamers be able to play its library of games come April, but they will be able to do so against the PC gaming crowd.
Users of Steam on Mac will be part of the same multiplayer world as PC gamers.
“Mac and Windows players will be part of the same multiplayer universe, sharing servers, lobbies, and so forth,” said John Cook, Director of Steam Development. “We fully support a heterogeneous mix of servers and clients. The first Mac Steam client will be the new generation currently in beta testing on Windows.”
The April launch of Steam for Mac will be supported with the release of Valve’s library of games including Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series.
